In reading today, we welcomed 1st graders from Mrs. Burrough's room to spend some time with us. We read a book with them, let them share their opinion pieces about whether they would rather be living today or back with the pilgrims, did a craft and had a snack. It was a really fun day and we plan on inviting the 1st graders more throughout the school year.
Basketball Jones came to visit on Friday. Everyone loved him and he gave us reminders about being helpful and kind. Some students even got to perform some pretty cool tricks and of course there was dancing!
We will be having a pizza party on Tuesday,November 23, at 12:20 for my homeroom class. We won this party through attendance to the Snappy Tomato Fundraiser. Each student will receive a large piece of pizza and either sprite or coke. I am asking each student to bring in a side to eat with their pizza (a fruit cup, chips, veggies, etc). I told the class that they may bring something in to share but they have to bring it for each student and check with me first (Just so I don't have 8 class sets of cookies :) ). We have 23 students.
We have been quite busy not only talking about bullying, friendship and affirmations in health but also during Kindness week! We sat down and came up with some positive affirmations that can cheer anyone up and we put them on the board for students to look at when they need a little pick up. Check it out!
With all of the new technologies being offered to our youth Kings Counselors are offering a course. It would be beneficial to attend as bullying is becoming more and more popular through social media.
Here is more information from Susie Burdine our school counselor: The Kings School Counselors are excited to bring a parenting class on technology and media use. Please join us on Saturday, December 5th from 8:30-11:00 AM at Columbia Intermediate School. This program is presented by Beach Acres Parenting Center and features a local technology and education expert from Cincinnati Bell. Please see the attached flyer for more information. http://bit.ly/1kSh4GH Here are some pictures from our Fall Party. It was so nice to have parents come in with planned activities. The students really liked playing these games and, of course, getting to eat a treat.
WOW! What an amazing experience SLE provides for students. At Vehicle Day, students were able to get inside many different vehicles, ask questions and make connections. Here are some of the moments that I caught.
