Weeks leading up to testing:
*Please make sure that your child is completing the reading OAA review packets for homework! These packets will go home on MONDAY and will be returned to the teacher on FRIDAY! These assignments must be turned in completed. No extensions will be given for incomplete packets!
*Make sure students are working on all math homework assigned (facts, computerized homework, paper based homework). Student fact fluency will be assessed on the PARCC.
Attendance is important! Please try to have your child at school each and every day so that they do not miss lessons. Please refrain from planning any trips during this time.
* Feel free to help your child but do not complete the packet for them! They must learn how to write proper responses and problem solve any issues that may occur. If completing homework assignments on the computer, encourage them to use scratch paper to solve problems.
*Be positive! Encourage your child to do thier best! You are their biggest cheerleader :)
*Encourage the usage of test prep strategies! These strategies are being taught in class and are expected to be used on the test!
Night before testing:
*Allow child to share feelings about the test
*Get a good night's sleep
*Review test prep strategies for the test that they will take on that day (paper based or computer based)
Morning of testing:
*Children should eat a good breakfast
*Wear comfortable clothing to school
*Hear words of encouragement
*If you feel that your child needs to work on their typing skills for the PARCC, please visit typing.com to sign up for a free account: www.typing.com
